Random thoughts of an almost 28 year old!

Well, tomorrow i turn 28 years old...it just sounds so much older than 27. Last year, i had the debate with my friends whether 27 is late or mid twenties...i maintained my firm belief it was mid b/c it is closer to 25 than 30....but there is no negotiating room for this year...i am officially in my late 20's...some other random things in my world right now:

-I finally had to get an NC driver's license...2 1/2 years later than the law says i should and i almost cried when i had to turn in my texas one with my number that i have had memorized since i got my permit at 15...sad, i know!

-It is december in Charlotte and we are 2 hours from the mountains and it is in the mid 70's (73-77) based on my earlier definition of mid-something...anyway, i wore flip flops today...in december...and in Texas, 14 hours from the mountains, it is 30 degrees and freezing....what in the world is happening? is this what they call global warming?

-this year, i visited 2 countries outside the US, made about 20 trips to texas, have racked up some serious advantage miles...and can't figure out what to do with all the pictures i have from these trips...

-alright...now my mind is blank on random thoughts...must be a sign of aging...just great!

I'll post again when i am actually a year older.....

Mountains...Fall....Carolina...love it!

My girls Life Group went up to the mountains this past weekend for a little "away" time from the city! :) There was delicious food which included smores roasted by the fire, well...in the microwave...we couldn't figure out the gas fireplace! There was some serious competition playing CatchPhrase and Apples to Apples...we hiked up about 3 miles to the top of a beautiful mountain on the Blue Ridge Parkway! Gorgeous! I was reminded of God's amazing creativity in creation! We also spent some time in a cute little town called Blowing Rock...for lunch and ice cream...delicious...my favorite ice cream place Kilwin's toasted coconut! Great weekend with great friends...now I am getting ready for New York with the family this thursday-saturday! :) promise to take lots of pictures!

This picture turned out so fun!

Another Beautiful Texas Wedding

It seems like these days, alot of my time (and money) is being spent on friends getting hitched...and it is totally worth it! :) Last weekend, I flew to Texas for the weekend for one of my oldest friends, Brookie and her Aggie husband, Jim G.'s unique and incredibly memorable vows and parties! I got to see so many friends from high school and college, not to mention hanging with the fam watching one of my favorite teams: The Dallas Cowboys! Congrats Brookie and Jim Galbreath! :) Love yall and see you soon!!!!

I heart...

COLLEGE FOOTBALL! There is nothing like it...especially in a town that i love and miss every Saturday called College Station, TX...I stole this from another aggie's blog and it gave me chills! If you are an aggie....you'll get chills too....if you're not one...maybe this will give you a glimpse into the reason we are so passionate about our college football team, our university and our beloved town, especially when we are sitting among 80,000 in a little place known as Kyle Field!

I am headed to the University of South Carolina game on Saturday in Columbia...it is fun to get to go and tailgate with friends and their atmosphere there is great...but nothing can compare to a packed house cheering on the team that i truly love!

On the road....to the mountains!

This past Thursday, Cori and I took a half day and drove up to Blowing Rock, NC (about 2 hours north of Charlotte)...her parents just built a house up there and we went to play golf (and tennis) with her parents and brother! It was so fun and definitely great to be in the mountains...it was so much cooler than the Charlotte 100s we were experiencing last week! Even though it was a short trip, we packed alot of stuff in...what a fun cute town with great shopping and boutiques in the Blue Ridge mountains of North Carolina...I only wish I had gotten some good scenic pics...they wouldn't do it justice! oh well...next time!

Driving the golf cart around

Cori's mom and Cooper (her brother, Stan's dog) who i secretly want to come live at our house...but since i can't keep Cori's plants alive when she is gone, i don't think she is going to let me have an actual animal around. :(

My awesome swing! yeah, right...it is getting better though! :)

A fun Brazilian steakhouse in Boone, NC...it was such a blast!

The owner man with us and the meat on a stick! delicious! :)

either at first! :)
Alright, i am off to the beach this weekend for a short trip...I'll post pictures when i get back!

Summertime is coming to an end...

Okay, so i just got back from an awesome week of "vacation" in Texas and Colorado! It was alot of traveling (stories to come later) but worth it to get to see friends and family. So...the first couple days were spent laying out by the pool in Port Aransas (Port A) with my friend Brookie and all her bridesmaids for a Bachelorette weekend...so fun! Then we drove 7 1/2 long hours back to Dallas for her shower that night...also very fun! Here comes the interesting part...on Monday, i flew to Colorado to see my parents for a couple days...now I love spending time with my parents and all, but it was a little weird being on vacation with them without any siblings..and mind you, i am almost 28 years old...so I think this summer was the last one that that will be happening! Anyways, it was a great and relaxing end to the summer full of youth trips...here are some highlights from some of those!

Giving in...once again...

So...if you know me, you know that i like to be on the cutting edge of what's new, whether it is a new relationship in Hollywood according to US Weekly or a new Tex Mex restaurant in Charlotte or new fashion trend or joining myspace...then only to find out (from my much edgier students that Facebook has replaced myspace...all that to say i have given in once again to the trend that is overtaking the internet...blogging. Okay, so no, I'm not getting married, having a baby, or needing an outlet to speak deep thoughts of theology...but I am doing this so that I can keep up with my friends all of the country and world, now...thanks to the opportunity to travel over the years! So...I'm not sure if i will be good at this or if it will be entertaining, but here we go...
